Oh hi. Thanks for coming to my site.
Look, I’m not going to say something pretentious like “Laura is a Brooklyn-based writer” or “Laura is a writer based in St. Paul” because I hate it when people do that. First of all, any writer is barely hanging on by a thread and everybody knows it. Also, I hate the term “based”. “Based” means you live there. Don’t make it seem like you’re globe-trotting because you’re so famous and special, and everybody is holding their breath waiting for your next blog post, because honestly, they’re probably just using the bathroom and trying to pay the bills, like everyone else, and not even thinking about you.
So. Here are some facts: I’ve been writing for A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor for a number of years. I used to be a writer/performer with a group in NYC called, (pretentiously?) “Saturday Night Rewritten (SNR)”, which was a lot of fun. I also co-wrote and acted in (once) a show produced by the 2009 NYC Fringe Fest called “Jen and Angie”, which was also fun, but a lot more painful because I had actual responsibility, sort of.
I also swim, knit, and hula hoop, and a bunch of other stuff, like making pies. Basically, anything that will allow me to procrastinate while also seeming productive, I’ll do it.
But here we are at my blog, and so I guess I’ll go write something.
Bye now.
